We collected the bed and sofas. We don't have a car - none of Richard's colleagues do - but his work has several vehicles that can be booked to use, and we pay a mileage amount. It seems like a good system. One of the vehicles is a large van that seats up to nine (known colloquially as 'big blue'), but most useful for furniture is a pickup truck.
We put the bed up in our bed room, where it looks pretty good, being a similar style to the built-in wardrobes. So our guests will sleep there. We moved our borrowed bed temporarily in the study, for us to sleep on. But then next week, rather than trying to find a better mattress, we'll return it, and try to find a good sofa-bed before the next time we have guests.
It was so nice to see some people from home, and they were most interested in the house, if a bit horrified at the state of some of it! Still, they agreed it was an excellent bargain, and had a lot of potential.
They could also see that the kitchen was well-equipped, albeit tiled in a rather old-fashioned and unattractive way. (Photo shows it before we moved anything in, as it demonstrates the tiles rather well).
